September 2011 Writing Project

Last months writing endeavour proved to me that I could write, and write lots. Even if in the end I scrap the project it was a good learning experience. This month I will be working on turning my series of short stories about Klarissa and Even into something more substantial *coughs* a novel *coug15hs again*.
The goal
To turn 15,456 words into 55,000 words by 30 September 2011. The title of the novel will be Children of the Curse.
The Plan
To write 39,535 words in 24 days. So that's 1647 words daily.
How am I going to do this:
  • Read what has already been written and make notes
  • Freewrite daily 1647 words
  • Read through previous days work and give light edit, and then do current days target.
  • Make notes as I go such as story outlines, character notes, world notes and so on.
  • Reward myself for each goal met
  • Track my progress using spread sheet
To be fair the final reward will be having my first novel *fingers crossed* and hopefully it will be good. I guess only time will tell. In the end as long as it is something that I am happy to read then I have accomplished a lot.

Look out for updates as I go; and if you have any feedback about anything in this blog feel free to email us at admin@pdpublisher.com.

Until next time;
go and escape into a book for 30 min, go on you know you want to.

He had lost track of time since Elite-Chaos put him in the dark. How long would Elite-Chaos hold him? He had never done anything to them.

His dragon Viper, really wanted to come out, but there was no room. He was a dragon rider, not a weredragon. Viper and Cody were separate beings, but their life force relied on the other to live. They could talk without talking, in some ways they shared a mind.

Wing Tag

Short Story about Klarissa and Clayton; set just after she met Evan, they are having fun playing a childish game of wing tag.

Wing Tag

Klarissa squealed and took off flying her brother close behind her, they were playing wing tag. They hadn’t played in years, not since they were kids, and life had been simpler. But she had to admit even though they were grown up now it was still so much fun.

The flying, spinning, ducking, crashing, the simple freedom . Klarissa barely got out of Clayton’s reach because she was night dreaming. “Ha, you gota do better than that if you want to catch me. Hey, that’s cheating,” she squealed in laughter as her brother threw water bombs at her.

“Was just seeing if you were awake, coz it sure looked like you were night-dreaming. You weren’t dreaming about that guy you’re crushing on were you,” Clayton teased his own laughter rumbling out. It was his turn to dodge the power ball that Klarissa hurled at him.

“No, shut up, I’m not crushing on anyone. Why? What makes you say I’m crushing on someone?” Klarissa was indignant, yet at the same time embarrassed. There was a new guy hanging around Night Crawlers, and he was mighty fine to look at. In fact he was H-O-T hot. She would have to be more careful to keep her thoughts to herself.

“See, there, you get this red tinge to your checks, Klarissa and Mr Hottie up the tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G, oye cut that out,” Clayton laughed as Klarissa sent a succession of power balls at him. “That hurt.”

“Wimp, suck it up,” Klarissa squealed again as Clayton sent one of her power balls back to her. Quick as lightning she rolled away, and flashed to just behind her brother, she then proceeded to tickle him without mercy. Until they both fell to the ground in a tangle of wings.

“How you doing Boo?” Klarissa asked after they had made themselves comfortable on their backs on the ground.

“Good the job at Tryennur Goth Library is going really well, thanks for helping me get the job,” Clayton said as he snuggled into the fragrant grass under his back, and looked up at the night sky.

They settled into a companionable silence side by side, siblings united for now and forever.

Chapter 1
Pre-Order Now RRP: Print NZD $4.30 + p&h; $2.20 eBook + $0.50 p&h

Klarissa was two hours into her shift when she had a tingly feeling. Unsure what was causing it she took a moment to take in what was going on around her. The night was dark, and the street quiet, maybe too quiet. It felt like someone was watching her, but she couldn’t feel another essence in the nearby vicinity.

“Patrol One to Control; what’s the status on Avongrove?” she asked quietly into her bluetooth mobi-phone headset.

Children of the Curse: Prelude - Chapter 1

The night was dark, and the street lights cast and orange gloom. As Klarissa walked down the street she kicked a pebble; it flew a hundred metres, and the kick was only a light one. Sighing to herself she felt despondent because things like that always happened.

She was heading to Night Crawlers, a nightclub in town, following a lead on a possible half-being. That's what they called them, half-beings; not fully human, vampire, fairy, were-animal or any other type of being. They were a mix of a few, or all.
